Pictures...or videos say it all

Here are a few videos of little one. (Remind me to keep my mouth shut when filming. Nothing more distracting than mommy voice in the background.)

Little one has been fighting a cold for the last couple of days. The upside, at least for hubby and I, is that we were able to lounge around in bed until after 8am both yesterday and today as little one has been putting in some long hours in bed. Also nap time yesterday was a 3 hour marathon; today , we are coming up on three hours and still no peep. I hope these heavy duties zzzz will nip this cold so that she can have a good week.

TGIF

I am so glad this week is over. One of my coworkers left for a two week vacation on Wednesday so am having to do her job as well as my own. The harder I work, the behinder I get. I have already warned hubby that I am going to have to work this weekend. If I had a straight 4-5 hours of uninterrupted work, I can probably start seeing the top of my desk. Will see how that goes...as we have plans for fun this weekend.

Tomorrow would have been our usual Mardi Gras party (we have had one every year since moving to Houston - after Katrina). This year, we just decided we did not want to go for the extra effort or expense. So, we are going to the church for their gumbo cook off instead. At least we will get some good gumbo.

Hubby is off to College Station for a doggy thing tomorrow. If he and Nola achieve a Q for their round (which they failed to do today), they will be able to compete at the advanced level. Next thing you know, you will be seeing them on the Animal Planet.

I am working on a page challenge for My Scrap Shop, where I am on their creative team. For this challenge, you can only have flowers and papers. I am not a big flower person so have a bit of a block. Here is what I have come up with so far....very simple. Actually, I don't really like it. I need more photos that match the title or need to change the title. Sigh! I have been in a creative rut lately. I do love this kit, which is by CWPickets called All of Me. I will probably just post this for the challenge and then add some more interesting elements to complete the photo for little ones photo book. Is that cheating?

I do it!

This is little one's favorite line these days. We have been working on putting on and taking off shoes and socks, coats, hats, shirts, etc. Now, she wants to do it whether you want her to or not. She has the hang of the shoes and socks. Taking off her jacket, shirt, pants, bib and diaper are also pretty good. Putting these same things on...that is another matter. This morning, she was bound and determined to dress herself. I was late, so I was bound and determined to do it for her. I had shirt, pants, shoes and socks on...she then sat down. Stated, "I do it" and proceeded to take off her shoes ...just so she could put them back on. Oh well...I am very proud that she can do these things for herself now...I just need to add an extra 20 minutes to our morning routines.

Have not done anything creative lately so here is a photo of little miss in her Sunday dress. We are once again teething (upper eye teeth now coming in)so have many photos of her with her hand in her mouth.

Is Daddy a Good Dancer?

This was the question that hubby posed to little one. Now, imagine if you will a semi-skinny man, moving to a kid tune but completely off beat, semi-spastic. He was sooooo happy when she said, "Yes." (I, of course, had to stifle the gafaw that begging to come out.)

How do babies become such little people so quickly. I look at little one and cannot believe she is only two. She seems so wise about some things. She is probably just saying things that she has heard said before....but....how did she turn from this totally dependent little cuddly blob that only pooped and ate to a little girl who knows what she wants and can tell you what she wants?

Little one and I had a mommy and daughter day (hubby was off golfing). We filled the day with riding the tricycle (still trying to get the hang of the feet on the peddles), blowing bubbles, going to the park, reading books, doing puzzles, doing laundry (little one is good at throwing the clothes into the dryer...or the floor, depending on her mood). and on. A great day.

A (semi) clean bill of health

Today was our 1 week check up after release from the hospital. The good news is that little one's lungs are clear. Looks like the antibiotics did the trick. The bad news is that while the blood test showed no infection, little one is still anemic. Not overly anemic but anemic none the less. So iron supplements R us...at least for some time to come.

We are hoping that the peer pressure of the new school (all the kids - big and little - eat at the same time) will assist with her broadening her food range (meaning more meat). In the mean time, we are cutting out many snacks so that she is hungry when dinner is served.

Daddy and little one have a new game. Daddy says, "I love you this much" and spreads her hands a certain width. Then little one says it and spreads her arms wider. Etc. Very cute!

Here is little one playing in the park.

First Day at New School

Today was little one's first day at her new school. She is now going to a Montessori school. They work at each kiddos level and she will also be mingling with older kids. We believe this environment will be good for her.

Little one has figured out that the camera captures her image. Now, everytime I take a photo, she runs up to see how it turned out. We have to take photos of her dolls, her various animals, etc so that she can see the outcome. The good part is that she now really shows her personality in photos...she is just one big ham.

A Day at the Park

Trying to figue out how to download a video. If this works, this is little one and daddy playing tickle.

The Culprit

Everyone tells me that little ones are made of rubber because they bounce back so quickly. With this whole ordeal, I am beginning to believe this. Other than the occasional cough and tiring fairly quickly, you would never know little one was in the OR three days ago or was suffering from pneumonia. She is amazing!

Here are the culprits:

The top photo is the bit that was at the bottom of the lung. The bottom photo is the larger piece that was blocking the right lung. These are just little pieces. The doctor saved them for us:

I am not sure what we are going to do with the offending bits. It is amazing how small the bits are.

I have to say, during this time, we have had so many thoughts and prayers sent our way. All I can say is that with the outcome we have had, the Big Guy must have heard. I am so thankful for all of you who have sent prayers our direction.

This has been a nice laid back weekend. We stayed close to home (a couple of visits to the park) but tried to keep things low key to give little one as much of a chance to get better as possible.
